What set this project apart was its incredibly fast 6-month construction schedule, paired with ambitious sustainability goals. Achieving an A1 Building Energy Rating (BER) and BREEAM Excellent certification, the facility has become one of Europe’s most energy-efficient logistics centres.
Lean Touch Solutions played a key role in the success of this distribution centre construction project. Our Lean Construction services were tailored to help meet Lidl’s threefold challenge: deliver at speed, meet high sustainability standards, and coordinate complex logistics and mechanical systems.
Our involvement focused on the following:
Our project approach was grounded in a holistic, Lean strategy that aligned with Lidl’s ambitious delivery goals. We collaborated closely with Lidl, the main contractor, M&E subcontractors, sustainable design consultants, and BREEAM assessors to implement Lean from the outset.
The success of the Lidl distribution centre construction depended on full buy-in from Lidl’s leadership, project management, and 25 trade partners. We trained 60 key partners in Lean Construction to ensure consistency across teams.
Our standardised Lean Implementation model, adapted for this large-scale logistics project, ensured that Lean principles weren’t just adopted—they were embedded into every stage. The result was a state-of-the-art, BREEAM Excellent and A1-rated distribution centre delivered on time and to the highest standards.
